S³ has 3 wholly owned subsidiaries: KBFS- provides aviation pilot training, heavy lift, aircraft maintenance, and related aircraft services to Government and commercial requirements IAW multiple FAA certifications; S3I- OCONUS FMS technical services, maintenance, and aviation platform training; and, GLSS- SCA/CBA contract aviation maintenance.
GLSS is seeking an Aviation Mechanic III (Electrician) to support on-going projects at the Jacksonville, FL. Naval Air Station.
Description:
The AC Mechanic III leads a team in the performance of the modification of the T-6A aircraft to install the Automated Backup Oxygen System and applies technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Will also be performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs.
Responsibilities:
• Applies a combination of experience to perform the modification of the T-6A aircraft to install the Automated Backup Oxygen System and prioritizes workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
• Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
• Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
• Performs component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
• Uses aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
• Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have experience with installation of electrical related TCTO/wiring modifications installations including wiring harness installation/repair.
• Must have experience as a lead aircraft electrician with demonstrated ability to correctly install electrical TCTO/wiring modifications including wiring harness installation/repair.
• Three or more years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Three or more years of experience guiding/instructing/mentoring less experienced technicians.
• Must have experienced reading and interpreting technical instructions including blueprints and TCTO instructions.
• Must be knowledgeable enough to know when instructions/blueprints are vague, incomplete, or unclear and request additional technical information.
