Job description

Welcome to the dynamic world of aviation, where every detail matters in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft. As an Aircraft Line Service Technician, you are the backbone of ground support services, playing a pivotal role in keeping flights on schedule and passengers safe. From expertly guiding aircraft on the tarmac to meticulously refueling and servicing planes, you are at the forefront of the aviation industry's operations. Join our team and embark on a career where precision, professionalism, and a passion for flight come together to elevate the skyward journey for all.

Overview: As an Aircraft Line Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft at our facility. Your primary responsibility will be to provide ground support services to aircraft, including refueling, towing, and marshaling. Additionally, you will assist with routine maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft Servicing:
  • Perform aircraft refueling operations using appropriate equipment and procedures to ensure accurate fueling and prevent spills or contamination.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections of aircraft to check for any signs of damage, leaks, or irregularities.
  • Assist with aircraft towing and parking maneuvers on the ramp or within hangar facilities, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Marshal arriving and departing aircraft using hand signals or communication devices to guide pilots safely to designated areas.
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide excellent customer service to pilots, crew members, and passengers by addressing their needs promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with passenger and baggage handling, including loading and unloading luggage and assisting passengers boarding and disembarking aircraft.
  • Communicate effectively with flight crews to coordinate service requests and ensure timely departure and arrival of flights.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all aviation regulations, company policies, and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Conduct regular inspections of ground support equipment (GSE) to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and drills to enhance awareness of emergency procedures and hazards associated with aircraft servicing operations.
  • Maintenance Support:
  • Keep accurate records of aircraft movements, fuel transactions, and service activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the ramp area, hangars, and service facilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in aviation maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in Aircraft Line Service operations, ground handling, or ramp operations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of aviation fueling procedures, safety practices, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA regulations) is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.

Physical Requirements:

The role of an Aircraft Line Service Technician involves various physical tasks that require strength, agility, and stamina. These physical demands are essential for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft on the ground. While specific requirements may vary depending on the employer and the nature of the work, typical physical requirements for this position include:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including fuel hoses, baggage, and ground support equipment (GSE), weighing up to 75 lbs pounds. This may involve frequent lifting from ground level and overhead.
  • Standing and Walking: Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods, often on uneven surfaces such as tarmac or hangar floors, while conducting aircraft servicing tasks and moving between job sites.
  • Bending and Stooping: Flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to access aircraft components, perform inspections, and handle equipment in confined spaces within the aircraft cabin or cargo areas.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull heavy GSE, such as fuel carts and tugs, to maneuver aircraft on the ramp or within maintenance facilities.
  • Climbing and Balancing: Comfort and proficiency in climbing ladders, stairs, and aircraft boarding ramps to access aircraft fuselages, wings, and cargo compartments. This may also include balancing on elevated platforms or equipment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hand tools, fueling equipment, and aircraft servicing devices while maintaining precision and control. This requires good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Safety Gear: Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety vests, goggles, gloves, and hearing protection as required by safety regulations and company policies.
  • Hazardous Material Exposure: Willingness to work with hazardous materials such as aviation fuels, lubricants, and flammable materials.
  • Weather Exposure: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, wind, and snow, while performing aircraft servicing tasks on the tarmac or ramp area.
