The 46th Test Squadron’s Datalinks Test Flight, Eglin AFB, FL, is searching for an Aircraft Cockpit Simulator operator who will work with a team of professionals that support test engineers, exercises, and tactical datalinks test events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates Link 16 flight simulation aircraft in support of live, virtual, and constructive test events that replicate current operational DoD aircraft, such as the F15E, F16, A10, B1, and various Command and Control platforms.
- Works with mission planners to configure parameter load files to operate Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) in test events.
- Works with OPTASKLINK, test architectures, and other applicable source documents related to configuring HWIL for datalinks testing.
- Advises test engineers on the capabilities and limitations of HWIL Command and Control (C2) and non-C2 simulation equipment.
- Maintains an accountable inventory of HWIL simulator equipment, maintenance logs, spreadsheet of parts and materials for each system by S/N, NSN, and/or part number.
- Maintains a baseline of software applicable for each HWIL system.
- Oversees and coordinates HWIL prime contractor site visits for all HWIL system upgrades.

One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of applicable technical experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 9 years of applicable technical experience
- · U.S. Citizenship required.
- · Must have a current and active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- · Security+CE or equivalent certification required within six months of employment.
- · Effective oral and written communication skills, successful working in a team environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- · Active DoD Top Secret clearance highly desired.
- · Current DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification.
- · Able to operate and maintain HWIL simulators in support of datalink testing to include: B1, F-15C, F-15E, F-16, E-8 JSTARS, E-3 AWACS, A-10, DRC, and MQ-9 platforms.
- · Experience in avionics, with a strong understanding of tactical data links (Link 16, SADL, Variable Message Format) and associated equipment (PRC-117G, MIDS-JTRS, ARC-210) is highly desired.
- · Technical experience desired in Close Air Support, Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground engagement, concepts and operations, military communications equipment, and US Air Force pilot terminology associated with target acquisition, target sorting and target engagement.
- · Working knowledge of UHF and VHF frequencies preferred.
- · Capable of using applicable test lab software tools, with the ability to develop Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and Link 16 simulation test scenarios highly desired.
- · Possesses basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
