SSU is currently recruiting for an Air Operations and Intelligence Planner to support United States Special Operation Command – Korea (SOCKOR). This opportunity is an on-site / office position for an active contract.

Location: SOCKOR JSOLE - Osan Air Base, ROK

Security Clearance: TS, SCI eligible

Duties and Responsibilities

The Air Operations and Intelligence Planner shall serve as SOCKOR’s Operations and Intelligence liaison to the 7th AF/ Air Combatant Command (ACC). Duties shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the deconfliction and integration plan for SOF during exercises and contingency operations across all Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) divisions: Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR), Combat Plans, Strategy, and Combat Operations.
  • Ensure SOF aviation asset mission planning tools are properly used to leverage the synergistic effects of combining and integrating SOF and conventional combat airpower to achieve the objectives of the Combined Forces Commander (CFC).
  • Assist in reception, training and integrating the augmented staff assigned to the JSOLE during both exercises and wartime operations.
  • Ensure all SOF specific mission inputs are included in the production of the Air Operations Directive, Joint Integrated Prioritized Target List (JIPTL), Air Tasking Order (ATO), and Collection Deck, as well as assisting with the management of re-missioning SOF aviation assets in the Korean AO.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the US SOF / United Nations Special Operations Command (UNCSOC) target nominations to the Joint Targeting Coordination Board (JTCB) within the CAOC, as well as Air Support Requests (ASRs) for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses, Airborne Alert Interdiction, and time critical Close Air Support (CAS) request in support of SOF missions.
  • Assist in nominating US SOF / UNCSOC collection requirements to the ISR Division Collections Management Board.
  • Ensure deconfliction of targets nominated at the JTCB with SOF team areas of operation, including but not limited to Army SOF, Naval Special Warfare (NSW), and US / ROK Operational Detachment Alpha teams that will be conducting operations within the AO during the applicable ATO day.
  • During Armistice, serve as SOCKOR’s liaison to 7th AF and Republic of Korea Air Force Operations Command Targets Effect Team while conducting revalidation of pre-positioned ATO targets.
  • Directly integrate SOF scheme-of-maneuver into annual production of the pre-ATO, as well as update SOF nominations to the JIPTL.
  • Assist in conducting SOF integration with the ACC in support of Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) exercises.
  • Secure SOF aviation support by way of coordination for the use of ranges, airspace, tanker, and CAS support from 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade (2 CAB), 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF), ROK Special Operations Aviation Group (SOAG), ROK Air Mobility Reconnaissance Command (AMRC), and 7th AF locally or unplanned training opportunities with units TDY or deployed to Korea.
  • Coordinate with Intel directorates and divisions within the CAOC and Korean Combined Operations and Intelligence Center to ascertain the most current Enemy Orders of Battle for SOCKOR in support of all planning efforts.
  • Attend regular Initial Planning Conference, middle Planning Conference, and Final Planning Conference in support of SOCKOR Commander directed exercises, simulations, or other planning sessions to execute essential mission taskings and directives.
  • Live and work in an operational environment when required (e.g., semiannual exercises operating from CP Tango, FOS-I, USAG-Daegu).
  • The work of this position is sedentary; however, light physical effort is required.
  • The work is typically performed in an adequately lit and climate-controlled office.
  • This position shall be designated a Mission Essential Contractor (MEC).

Qualifications:

  • Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • Speak, read, and write conversational Korean to a ILRT 3 or DLPT 2+/2+/2+ level.
  • Two years’ experience operating on a Joint Staff or in Special Operations Forces.
  • Familiarity with the use of Microsoft and SharePoint products
  • Ability to work in a high tempo, high stress environment with minimal oversight.
  • Valid Korean or International Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain a USFK Motor Vehicle Operators Permit and operate Government Non-Tactical Vehicles (GOVs) in accordance with USFK Regulation 190-1.
