Summary:
AIP is looking for an AIP Writer to join the Institute's Marketing and Engagement Team. The AIP Writer is responsible for writing highly engaging content for distribution across a range of mediums and channels, including web, email and social. As a member of the AIP Content & Engagement Home Team, you'll produce profiles of individuals and programs, summaries of research reports, brochures, feature articles on special topics, and other marketing materials. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills and understands digital analytics and how to mine them for audience insights to deliver content that exceeds expectations. You'll work with a team of writers and editors who do everything from the highly scientific to the standard news release, though your work will focus more on our programs than on science.
What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with other AIP programs to create a mix of marketing content for all media types including web, email, and social.
• Conduct high quality research and interviews to develop compelling information
• Produce error-free content that adheres to the tone and style guidelines for the program requesting the work
• Edit and proofread copy for grammar and accuracy.
• Interpret creative direction and adapt points from creative briefs into persuasive copy concepts
• Publish and distribute content via various distribution methods and update web content for AIP's programs as needed.
• Manage multiple projects with short deadlines

What You'll Bring:

• Review other writer's articles; attend and participate in staff meetings; assist as needed with any Content and Engagement team projects as needed; assist with audience development and engagement; support the News & Media team's workflow as needed. Cross train on essential roles and provide coverage for various responsibilities when others are out of the office for events, PTO and member society meetings. assist with webinars and other emerging products; other duties as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree in English, communications, or marketing preferred.
• 1 - 3 years of experience writing and editing web content or marketing materials is required.
• Previous experience in science writing and editing is a plus.
• Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling is required.
• Proficient and ever improving writing skills, communication, and news sense
• Ability to work well with others, both inside and outside the organization.
• Ability to multi-task, handle multiple assignments and priorities, and meet deadlines.
