Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $197,507.00 - $250,917.00. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is not a remote position.
Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

We are on the lookout for an AI/ML Data Research Scientist with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and database technologies. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and management of large-scale data architectures across SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Innovate in database design, data modeling, and performance tuning for relational databases.
- Design and manage graph data stores for complex data relationships, optimizing for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications.
- Implement data security best practices and provide technical leadership for scoping complex projects.
- Actively involved throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Collaborate with development teams on application performance optimization and big data challenges.
- Participate in code reviews, providing feedback to enhance code quality and readability.
- Engage in Design Review Panels and Tech Talk series to foster continuous learning among team members.
- Write unit, integration, and service tests, and use continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and SonarQube.
- Ensure contributions to the baseline meet quality standards, coding conventions, and documentation guidelines.
- Proactively monitor and enhance data pipeline performance, staying abreast of industry trends and developments.
Required Qualifications:
- 16+ years in software development and database engineering, with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- At least five (5) years specifically in AI/ML and data engineering.
- A working understanding of supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised ML approaches and in what use cases to employ them.
- Proficiency with graph-native machine learning pipelines for feature engineering and evaluation.
- Demonstrated competency in developing basic formal ontologies and their application to graph data modeling.
- Mastery of one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Proven expertise with graph database tools, technologies, and methods such as property graph models, storage and retrieval optimization, Cypher Query Language (Graph Query Language under ISO), and graph theoretic algorithms.
- Familiarity with Maven build systems (Java), CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and SonarQube, and configuration management software such as Apache Zookeeper.
- Extensive experience with SQL database design, relational data modeling, and object-relational mapping for REST API development.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) for distributed and data-intensive system tools (Kafka, Apache Spark, Hadoop).

Required Education: 16 + years in software development and database engineering, with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
