Job Summary:
This is a 12-month staff position with thetitle of Agribusiness Extension Specialist and SmallFarms Coordinator. Dependingon Qualifications, he/she may serve as one of four cluster leaders in the LUCooperative Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP). The role of the agribusinessExtension Specialist is to implement extension activities focused onagricultural business, agricultural entrepreneurship, economics, Small Farmsustainability, farm record keeping, rural and urban development, and relatedareas. Another role of the position isthe Small Farms Coordinator position. The Small Farms Coordinator is to workclosely under the supervision of the Associate Extension Administrator and PI'sfor the Extension/Research grants focused upon Small Farms program services andworking with socially disadvantaged farmers to develop opportunities.
TheSL/SAAS Agribusiness Extension Specialist is expected to function in both aFacilitator and Technical Specialist role. It is expected that he/she will workclosely with the Associate Extension Administrator and as needed assist withextension administrative, monitoring, and evaluation activities. The AgribusinessExtension Specialist is expected to build facilitation skills and strengthentechnical specialty under the direction of SL/SAAS leadership. This Extension Specialistposition is expected to focus on programming throughout the State of Oklahoma.The Agribusiness Extension Specialist primary office will be at LangstonUniversity's campus and will spend approximately 1-2 days per week at LangstonUniversity School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and 3-4 days per week onextension visits and activities throughout the state. The Extension Specialist willbe expected to travel to other areas in the State to assist in SL/SAASprogramming.

SpecificDuties and Responsibilities
Conduct education trainings in the Management and Sustainability area of SAAS Extension programming.
Coordinate and organize extension and outreach conferences, field days, and events as part of overall extension strategy.
Prepare timely personal, team, and donor reports.
Attend weekly team meetings.
Organize and facilitate regular meetings with LU SAAS Agriculture Economics Faculty in order to develop and implement research supported Agricultural Business programming and extension documents.
Work with other extension educators to implement programming.
Able and willing to work with small-scale machinery, hand tools, walk behind tractors, and low horsepower riding tractors as required.
Facilitate interactions with LU SAAS stakeholders and partners.
Visit extension outreach locations to interact with producers and community leaders
Assist with extension data collection and write extension activity reports and publications
Assist with writing grants & program development, management, evaluation, and reporting.
Develop curriculum for extension programming.
Other related responsibilities as directed.

Position Qualifications:
QualificationsRequired:
Bythe date of hire, earned M.Sc. (required, Ph.D. Preferred) in AgriculturalEconomics, Agribusiness Agricultural Education, or closely related field, withdepth and expertise in a discipline and the ability to address the breadth ofAgribusiness. Record of professional accomplishments in extension programming,adult education, commensurate with career level. Demonstrated ability tocommunicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences in oral andwritten forms. Record of competitive grant management success commensurate withcareer level. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a broadrange of professionals and students. Knowledge of community nutrition and theconnection of nutrition to healthy living including state-of-the-art techniquesapplicable to community nutrition programming and research. Capacity to workcooperatively with others in an interdisciplinary teaching, research, andextension program.
Inaddition, be proficient with MS Office Suite, expected to adapt quickly toonline reporting services, Able to travel to project sites and conducteducation events, Familiar with project management and collaboration softwarelike Asana, MS Project, and Office 365 Suite. Able to develop spreadsheets and relatedskills.
