Internship Job description
The intern will assist the aging department with providing resources and aid to disadvantaged individuals and families as they rotate through resource connections, ADRC, HCBS, Community supports, and housing opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake interviews and needs assessments for new clients
- Research and maintain directory of community resources including food banks, housing assistance, job training programs, etc.
- Attend meetings with clients to offer support and guidance on accessing services
- Help clients fill out applications and paperwork for government aid programs
- Connect clients to counseling services, legal aid, and other resources as needed
- Maintain detailed records and case files tracking client interactions and progress
- Participate in training to learn about available resources and social services procedures
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in social work, psychology, sociology or related field
- Strong communication, listening, and interviewing skills
- Ability to collaborate with clients compassionately and non-judgmentally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
- Interest in social services, non-profits, and/or social justice issues
This is a paid internship position with an hourly wage of $15 hour. Hours are flexible approximately 15-20 hours per week. Excellent opportunity for students interested in social work, case management, and direct client services.
