Internship Summary:

As an Ag Credit Analyst Intern you will assist the Ag Credit Banking department with day-to-day analysis, risk mitigation, and management of lending relationships. You will gain experience analyzing financial statements and monitoring loan and overall lending relationship assessments. In this role you may also have the opportunity to shadow different departments within the Credit and Banking departments, including Ag Lending or Commercial Credit. This internship will begin in December 2023 and the ideal candidate will be able to work 20-25 hours/week.

What will you do:

Accountabilities

Underwriting

  • Analyze diverse credit information for loans; analyze credit history of customers and prospects; prepare of credit analysis for presentation to loan officers and Loan Committee.
  • Perform analysis techniques including cash flow analysis, financial projections, stress testing, and peer company analysis.
  • Develop an understanding of the Bank’s loan policies and guidelines, analysis processes, and credit culture. Identify the impact and value that Ag Credit has on banking relationships.
  • Document lending activities, including appropriate credit analysis, to meet structural objectives and legal requirements. Provide adequate file support for third party review including Bank management, credit review, Bank examiners, and outside auditors.
  • Proactively manage and structure account relationships to maintain asset quality at acceptable levels, with defined strategic plans for distressed relationships.

Special Projects

  • Track the compliance of borrowing base agreements and other loan covenants set out by new and existing loan agreements and report the results to loan officers and senior management.
  • Loan coding review.
  • Inspect credit tracking.
  • Ag real estate inspections and valuation tracking.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or pursuing higher education in a business-related program.

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to work independently with some supervision. Self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High degree of accuracy required.
