Job Summary:
Afterschool Coach will facilitate expanded learning after school programs with physical and academic enrichment activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop a safe and supportive environment by:
- Intentionally build and maintain a trusting, nurturing and supportive relationship with youth
- Assist in identifying youths’ strengths, interests and learning styles to best support their development related to their strengths and interests
- Participate in on-going health and safety procedures, trainings to support youth
Support Active and Engaged Learning by:
- Provide learning experiences through multiple senses and work in groups with clear purpose
- Provide activities that raise awareness, promote thought-provoking discussion and support collaborative interactions that are inclusive of all
- Provide opportunities to think critically, as well as act on issues that are relevant to them and their interests.
Provide Skill Building activities by:
- Create and implement projects and activities that are relevant to youths’ lives
- Develop and share learning goals for each activity with youth
- Facilitate activities and conversations that increase youths 21st century skills and a sense of personal and social responsibility
Provide a space for Youth voice and leadership by:
- Encourage and engage youth on a regular basis to share their perspectives regarding program design, what they want to learn and the quality of their experience in the program
- Work with the site team to recognize the leadership potential of youth regardless of age, and provide opportunities for their development
Provide opportunities to practice healthy choices and behaviors by:
- Facilitate daily opportunities for youth to engage in developmentally appreciate research-based nutrition and physical activities that are in line with program goals
- Model good nutrition and participate in physical activity during the program
Provide support to program quality by:
- Participate in weekly site meetings & contribute discussion topics
- Maintain site equipment & resources in a responsible & tidy manner
- Assist in the development and implementation of special events and field trips for the site
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate sensitivity other
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and reach out for assistance when needed.
- Ability to facilitate physical and sedentary activities
Education and Experience:
- Graduate or majoring in education, child development, physical education, recreation or related field desired
- Experience working with children/ youth ages 5-17 is required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience implementing expanded learning/ out of school time educational enrichment activities is a plus
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements:
- Regular physical activity participation is required
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- COVID 19 vaccine mandatory per funder requirements
Monday- Friday schedule: must be available from 1:30-6pm
Have reliable transportation
Pay range $17.50-$19 an hour
