Position Title: Activity Leader
Employee Type: Seasonal, approx. 22-25 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, generally from 1-6pm depending on the day
Pay: $25.62-$26.90 based on experience
Location: Onsite at one of the following locations:
- Lafayette Elementary School
- Peabody Elementary School
- McCoppin Elementary School
- Argonne Elementary School
- Alamo Elementary School
JOB SUMMARY: The Activity Leader’s responsibilities are 2-fold:
- Responsible for planning a different enrichment activity class for each day/week.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe environment for students.
Examples of enrichment activity classes are: Arts n' Crafts, Photography, Dance, Cartooning, Singing, Fashion Arts, Sports.
Examples of group activities are: science, media (videotaping, Zine making, etc), sports, arts, local field trips.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for your own group of students (up to 22 students).
- Designs, implements and evaluates program activity classes.
- Develops and supervises daily structured activities for participants.
- Applies behavior guidance models and addresses student behaviors.
- Applies cooperative learning strategies to reduce traditional teaching structures and increase youth voice and engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working with youth.
- Availability Monday through Friday during after-school program hours (approx. 1pm-6pm, depending on the school and the day)
- Critical Consciousness: Able to weave equity and cultural relevance into all aspects of planned activities. Able to plan and facilitate programming intentionally. Understanding of marginalized communities. Strong advocate for youth voice and leadership.
- Willingness to lead, participate, and engage in group activities with students.
Requirements For All Staff:
- DOJ Live Scan Fingerprinting: All employees who have contact with youth under the age of 18 must be fingerprinted under procedures established by the DOJ. We cannot employ any individual who has been convicted of a serious or violent felony, as defined by the California Penal Code. The organization also receives updated information from the DOJ during employment. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records on a case by case basis.
- Must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements: An Associate’s degree or higher OR Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent OR Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent.
- TB Test: Every employee who has regular contact with youth is required to have a current tuberculin skin test or an X-ray examination of the lungs (with a negative result) prior to reporting for duty.
- Employment Authorization: Employees must be able to prove that they are authorized to work in the United States using any of the documentation allowed according to current I-9 processes.
- Covid-19 Vaccination: SFUSD requires all subcontractors to mandate Covid-19 vaccination: employees must be vaccinated or have a medical or religious exemption to initiate an accommodation and the interactive process.
