GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Kidz Korner is an after-school enrichment program for students with autism, down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. Kidz Korner provides homework assistance, recreational and leisure activities in group settings, and the program builds on the group’s current interests and explores new ideas.Kidz Korner is designed to support the development of hobbies, social interaction, and character development.The After School Program Lead assumes the role of ensuring safe and appropriate services are delivered as well as supervising youth enrolled in the program and the After School Program Aide(s).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that is both respectful and empowering to families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Oversee program staff, activities, supplies and schedules
- Maintain communication with families, FSS Program Coordinator and School Personnel via agency email and telephone
- Plan, organize, and participate in group activities
- Is attentive, flexible, and supportive of students and their families
- Encourage and model social behavior and appropriate self-expression
- Demonstrate a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
- Complete and submits attendance records, staff time sheets, monthly program reports, and any other program specific documents as needed by specified deadlines
- Monitor the provision of services to ensure the comfort, health, safety, and well-being of individual enrolled in program
- Provide input at staff or family meetings and as needed discussing participant wellbeing, behaviors, and program quality
- Is technologically proficient and able to use company implemented platforms to ensure successful programming and documentation
- Based on need, may be required to travel to other after-SCHOOL PROGRAM locations to fill in if short staffed
- Follows mandatory reporting procedures according to FRN and state protocols
- Completes 6 professional development hours annually.
