The YMCA in Rapid City is actively seeking a dynamic individual to join our Kidstop team as an Afterschool Program Coordinator, playing a pivotal role in providing a high-quality, safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate afterSchool Program. This program focuses on nurturing soft skills, character development, and academic enrichment, laying the foundation for the holistic growth of the children in your program.

The heart of your role lies in the implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum that places a strong emphasis on safety and the development of social and physical skills. The activities you plan and execute are not just routines; they are carefully crafted opportunities for children to engage in mission-based, fun, age-appropriate, safe, and meaningful experiences, contributing significantly to their overall growth and development.

Building positive relations with the broader community is a key aspect of your position. This involves developing and maintaining strong connections with school principals, teachers, and administration, as well as establishing a collaborative and supportive rapport with parents. By doing so, you contribute to creating a comprehensive and well-rounded support system for the children enrolled in the afterSchool Program.

Ensuring the safety and security of each child in your care is a top priority. This includes not only adhering to YMCA safety policies but also staying in compliance with state and local codes. Your commitment to maintaining a secure environment contributes to the overall well-being and trust of both children and parents.

Beyond program activities, your role encompasses the proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials. This attention to detail extends to completing and filing lesson plans weekly, maintaining a neat and accurate attendance record, and ensuring that the afterschool environment remains organized and conducive to positive experiences.

Connecting with Kidstop site staff on a weekly basis allows for the seamless sharing of information gained through Kidstop Site Coordinator/Childcare Director meetings. This ensures a cohesive approach to program management, fostering a sense of teamwork and shared purpose. Additionally, maintaining positive relations with YMCA members and program participants contributes to overall community engagement, reinforcing the YMCA's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
