Position Overview (Summary/Objective):
As an Aerospace Systems Engineer Intern, you will contribute to development of cutting-edge spacecraft payload and subsystem technologies. Topics include software-defined radios, gimbal mechanisms, on-orbit servicing, and assembly and manufacturing (OSAM) technologies.
Responsibilities:

  • Create space system architectures, concepts, and configurations to meet mission objectives
  • Technical involvement with projects including system cost, development schedule, and technical risks
  • Create and execute test plans
  • Analyze mission objectives to determine system requirements; establish traceability of all requirements to validation data
  • Develop validation strategies, plans, and procedures
  • Flow-down requirements to subsystems and subcontractors
  • Create and present materials for design reviews and customer meetings
  • Flow down requirements to subsystems and subcontractors
  • Create and maintain critical system and subsystem level budgets
  • Perform quantitative trade analyses, make-buy analyses, and vendor selections

Basic Qualifications:
  • Junior or Senior year student pursuing a bachelor's degree, or student working on advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant engineering discipline required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework or project experience in one or more of the following:
    • Orbital mechanics and mission design
    • Thermal modeling and heat transfer
    • Brushless motor driver development
    • Computer Vision for embedded systems

Pay Range: $22.00/hour - $28.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Location:
This position is based out of ARKA's beautiful Bothell, WA campus. EHS/Environmental Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions, occasionally operate tools and/or machinery with hands and arms and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. The employee will use protective equipment when working with chemicals, move between workstations, reach, and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 40 lbs. This position requires the incumbent to access export-controlled information.
