Aerospace Systems Engineer

Clearance Level: Secret

About the Role:

Aquila is seeking an AerospaceSystems Engineerto join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The group performs Systems Engineering tasks for all phases of prototype systems development, from early design studies to final sell-offs. We require the services of an Engineer I to support Systems Engineering tasks from the design phase through testing.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do:

Support staff in Systems Engineering activities for a suborbital payload that includes hardware and software/firmware. Tasks will include requirements development, refinement, and flow-down, interface specification, and management, environmental specification, planning (including writing plans and procedures) for and execution of the assembly, integration, and test phase, and the verification and validation efforts. The candidate will be expected to work individually and in teams and be able to present and discuss their work internally and with external partners.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8 years of Systems Engineering
  • 5 years of Experience with ICD (interface control document)
  • 8 years of System Integration and Validation
  • 8 years of Systems engineering on space systems
  • 8 years of Software Validation

Working Knowledge of the Following:

  • Experience with Systems Engineering for complex systems
  • Experience with space, aerospace, or other rigorous processes for system integration and test
  • Experience with ICD (interface control document); developing ICDs and coordinating ICD changes with stakeholders
  • Matlab scripting/programming
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in teams

And These Skills are a Bonus:

  • Experience with SysML
  • Experience with MagicDraw
  • Familiarity with advanced hardware development and the interaction between hardware and software
  • Experience with hardware environmental testing, e.g. vibration, thermal, vacuum, EMI/EMC

Location: Lexington, MA

Work Schedule: This position is fully hybrid. The candidate should expect to be onsite 60% of the time. This schedule will need to be a bit flexible to be onsite for days that involve testing, sponsor meetings, etc. Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.
Clearance: Candidates must have an active secret clearance at the time the assignment starts.

Travel: Travel would be all domestic travel.
