Our team in Aircraft Group is looking for a Gear Machinist on 1st shift (6:00am-2:30pm) to join them. You will report to the machine shop supervisor and will have an onsite work schedule in Torrance, CA.

To be considered, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

         High School Diploma or GED or formal training equivalency

         5 years or more of machining experience

         Experience with gears or gear hobbing

         Blueprint reading

         Can use different measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.

         Experience with Geometric Tolerances (GD&T) and extreme close tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005.

Experience with the following machines desired, but not required:

         Voumard, Okuma GA-26, Center Lap

         CNC 3 abd 4 axis milling

         CNC multi turret and spindle turning centers

         Okuma 3 and 4 axis CNC mills, Okuma CNC lathes and turning centers

         Gleason gear shapers and hobs

As a machinist, you will:

       Set up and operate proficiently two or more different types of manual or CNC machines such as: Profiling, Hones, Gleason Reciprocators, Gleason Generators, Milling Turning, Drilling and Grinding, producing quality production hardware.

       Perform set-ups and all other machinist level functions.

       Operate machines outside your area of expertise and to deburr parts.

       Help plan work within the Cell and to help occurring within the Cell.

       Inspect all work performed; detect unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognize errors in blueprints and operation sheets.

       Use different shop measuring instruments for setting up and checking work, including comparator charts for first piece buy-off and in-process monitoring of hardware.

       Perform block checks on NC or CNC machines and detect errors in tapes to prevent scrap.

       Assist NC Programming Department using edits to resolve errors promptly.

       Plans sequence of operation using available tooling or improving tooling as necessary.

       Meet production time standards on work assignments.
Apply good knowledge of practical shop mathematics.

       Use a wide variety of shop precision measuring instruments for setting up and checking work, including comparator charts for first piece buy-off and in-process monitoring of hardware.

       Performs block checks on NC or CNC machines and detects errors in tapes to prevent scrap.

       Perform other work of comparable or lesser difficulty as required.

       Must be trained and certified in the elements of the Certified Operator Program and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

       Assist and instructs lesser skilled employees when required.

Salary Range:

California Residents: Pay range for this opportunity is $30.07 - $36.00 per hour

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits. 

 

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
