Aerospace PS2 Cadmium (Cad) Operator
Job Overview
Title: Process Support 2, Cad Operator
Reports to: Production Supervisors (Value Stream or Shift)
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: This Position is for First Shift:  Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st Shift (Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday – Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)
Job Summary
This is a Plating Operator position in our Cadmium Plating department.  Employees in this position will process aerospace parts through the processing tanks. Plating Operators will be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. The Plating Operators perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.
* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with other Plating Assistants, Plating Operators, and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow technique cards, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from other Operators and Department Leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
  • General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Prepare aircraft/or military aircraft parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
  • Must have familiarity and knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Must have familiarity with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
  • Must have familiarity with engineering drawing notations.
  • Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel.
  • Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and annual physical Chromium exam and spirometry exam; ability to wear a respirator.
  • May need to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally). 
  • Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English and calculate basic math formulas.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
  • 1-2 years in manufacturing production surface finishing environment a plus.

  • Ability to lift occasionally: (floor to knee) 114 lbs., (waist to waist) 63 lbs., (floor, knee, to waist) 75 lbs., (waist to shoulder) 30 lbs.

  • Ability to see/hear/feel constantly – hearing protection may be required when working in the area
 
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment is required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, and respirator (provided by Company). 
Salary Range for position: $15.74 - $45.00 *DOE, depending on number of years' experience in current industry based upon knowledge and experience in plating.
