Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Aeronautical Engineer or Principal Aeronautical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. As an engineer in the Research & Advanced Design - Airbreathing Propulsion Group, the selected candidate will support the design, analysis, and test of a fast-paced, classified program in Redondo Beach, California. The candidate will be capable of learning quickly on the job, taking ownership of assignments, and presenting work internally to senior engineers. The candidate will have limited exposure to installed propulsion system performance.
Essential Functions:

  • Support Air-Induction & Exhaust System design
  • Support Fluid System Design & Integration
  • Support Propulsion System Performance Accounting (Engine Performance, Secondary Aero)
  • Support Force & Moment Accounting
  • Support Test Planning & Execution
  • Interface Control Document Development
  • Technical Reporting (Test, Milestone Reviews)
  • Strong Verbal Communication
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time

Basic Qualifications:
  • Aeronautical Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 2 years of STEM related engineering experience, or a Principal Aeronautical Engineer: Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 5 years of STEM related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience or STEM PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Required to be able to obtain and maintain active U.S. Government (DoD) issued Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP / PAR).

Preferred skills:
  • NPSS, C++, Python
  • MBSE (Cameo)
  • PLM Software (Teamcenter)
  • Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

Salary Range: $87,200.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
