Job Overview
The International Procurement Services unit (IPS) of Mercedes-Benz is responsible for the global procurement of non-production materials and services. The selected candidate will lead the procurement strategy and serve as the project manager for the end-to-end RFP process. This will include commodity management of Marketing for MBUSA and other Mercedes-Benz entities in the US while ensuring strict compliance to IPS and Mercedes-Benz processes, managing a volume of spend greater than $200M.
Responsibilities
Strategic Commodity Procurement:
Lead sourcing strategy for various Marketing teams with a focus on optimizing total cost of ownership across all Mercedes-Benz entities in the US by:
Conducting periodic national contract portfolio reviews with Internal Customers and Executive Management to align national sourcing needs and strategies and aggregate demand to leverage spend
Working closely with stakeholders to identify and introduce new supplier trends, technologies and advancements in design, materials, services and process improvements to build competitive advantages to bundle services where possible, reduce cost, improve quality and/or shorten time-to-market lead-time
Project Management:
Serve as a Project Manager for the end-to-end RFQ processes for assigned commodities by:
Investigating suppliers, creating the RFP Framework by integrating business specifications, as well as conducting and hosting the RFP on behalf of Mercedes-Benz entities in the US
Act as a consultant for internal business partners on supplier selection process, deploy advanced negotiation designs and develop innovative, project-specific contracting strategies and price control mechanisms for high spend and complexity projects.
Ensure solid contracting methodologies by working closely with MBUSA Legal to bring contracts to execution readiness
Independently aggregate and synthesize project information with strategic understanding of supply market, technology trends, price control and negotiations and present sourcing recommendations to Executive Management for approval
Process Compliance and Performance Management:
Act as a consultant to Internal Customers on MB policies and procurement process, providing training support where necessary
Forecast and meet IPS key performance indicators set by IPS Executive Management (savings, efficiency and compliance targets) and ensure proper reporting
Additional ad-hoc assignments as required
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in any of the following:
Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Communications, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, International Relations/Business, Technical Management-Logistics, Mathematics, Management Information System (MIS), Marketing, Statistics, Technology, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience in project management, contracting, negotiation and direct/production material procurement.
Experience:
Relevant experience in any combination of any the following:
Accounting, Administration, Business - General, Business Management, Project Management, Finance, Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM), Marketing, Market Research, Contract Negotiation/Legal
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Ability to analyze data, establish facts, identify trends and variance and integrate information from a variety of sources with varying levels of complexity
Excellent communication skills in order to work with internal business partners in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
Execute with high degree of self-direction, self-management, business professionalism and integrity to adhere to strict procurement policies
Customer focused with 'can-do' attitude
Advanced process understanding and attention to detail
CPM is preferred but not required
