Your Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
This is advanced and specialized nursing work, requiring certification in a specialty area, providing family planning services, STD services, and/or performing certain medical procedures within established protocols. This position evaluates risk factors and lab results for patients who present for care and refer as appropriate for further evaluation and treatment. This position is responsible for administering and implementing nursing standards for the practice of advanced REGISTERED NURSE practitioners, as well as planning, coordinating and implementing program policies and protocols. This position works under the direct/indirect supervision of a physician and under written protocols. This position is delegated as a Career Service position that is eligible for on-call pay per any applicable collective bargaining agreement. All of the following duties require accuracy, safety, positive customer and team interactions, and adherence to protocol, policies, and procedures at all times.

  • Performs histories, physicals, and evaluates risk factors within the standards of accepted medical practice and protocols. This is done with cultural competence and in consultation with a physician as needed.
  • Performs and/or orders labs, diagnostic procedures, and makes appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Analyzes data and uses problem solving skills while working within a team environment.
  • Maintains patients' records and ensures timely entry of each encounter in the electronic health record.
  • Provides guidance regarding appropriate community resources. • Provides STD services to males and females as indicated.
  • Provides family planning services as indicated, including procedures: implant (Nexplanons) and intrauterine devices (IUDs).
  • Provides comprehensive health assessment of client's physical, psychosocial, and environmental status in order to develop, implement, monitor, and modify a plan of care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Computer - Basic knowledge of commonly used software, such as Microsoft Outlook and Word.

  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Medicine and Dentistry - Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

Qualifications:
Active and in good standing license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 OR 8.27
