this will be a hybrid role between working remote and the Farmington Hills location
The Advance Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, and build of capital equipment and tooling. These responsibilities include machine builds, prove out of equipment and sign off at the production facility. Duties also include problem solving, engineering gate deliverables, and support of manufacturing on new launch programs.
· Support development of assembly equipment and associated processes.
· Take an active role in new part quotations including, feasibility, costs for labor, material requirements, tools and machines etc.
· Create equipment specification for new equipment and tooling that meet customer and internal specifications
· Maintain capital and tooling budget for program team to monitor spending against business case plan
· Manage new tool build programs as required for new model launches
· Support build of equipment and tooling onsite at suppliers.
· Verify Machine Logic meets Client’s plant controls expectations.
· Support prototype builds and part evaluations for early product development
· Oversee production trial schedules and documentation.
· Complete Client’s Gate System deliverables, including approval of all MSO requirement
· Develop DFAM (Design for Assembly & Manufacturing) issue and track for closure. Consider Design for Automation
· Develop Process Flow to support manufacturing plan
· Develop Labor plan to support manufacturing plan
· Develop PFMEA and support Control Plan development
· Develop Traceability plan for Safety Critical processes.
· Hold / Develop documentation for Source Board (Equipment and Tooling)
· Support Product Engineering Design review to confirm manufacturability
· Track and Maintain Equipment and Tooling Open Issues
· Determine Power Requirement for each piece of equipment
· Timing Plan for Equipment and Tooling, track to ensure on time delivery of equipment and a process that achieves business case efficiency, OEE, and scrap, and not just a piece of equipment on the shop floor.
· Define process parameters with tolerances / process windows using process development methodology and problem solving skills
· Work with product engineering to develop Poke Yoke plan.
· Provide Spare Parts list for each piece of equipment and tool
· Confirm equipment and tooling meet Ergo requirement. Develop (PEIL) Potential Ergonomic issues list and drive closure.
· PSDR (Pre-Safety Design Review) on all equipment.
· Develop Machine Energy Lock out procedure
· Develop Initial Plant Layout for hand off to plant.
· Review and improve material flow.
· Support mold maintenance as necessary for current model tooling repairs by outside vendors.
· Support Kaizen activities in production.
· Build and maintain relationship with customer engineering contacts
· Manage multiple programs when required
Key Must Haves'
B.S. Degree in Engineering (preferred Mechanical) highly preferred
Minimum 10 + years Advanced Manufacturing Engineering experience.
Must have heavy Cockpit/IP experience from an AME standpoint, a good understanding on how IP’s are constructed.
Additional interior parts and design knowledge, including but not limited to, instrument panel trim, floor consoles, floor console armrests and trim, door panels, door armrests, door trim, seat trim, pillar trim, other misc. trim components.
Some sort of CAD including CATIA V5, TeamCenter, NX.knowledge – enough to open up cad files and interrogate the technical data.
Must be able to handle/Lead a program from start to finish or Launch.
