Job description

TITLE: RECREATION PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SUPPORT SERVICES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Support Services, shall develop, implement, monitor, and coordinate recreation and socialization services to individuals with developmental disabilities including, but not limited to, the Out-N-About (ONA) Program and Respite Getaways Program.

The Out N About program is a community inclusion service that provides opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to socialize, gain independence, and participate in the community with their peers. The Respite Getaway program provides weekend long recreation opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. This program is designed to give parents and families relief from caregiving responsibilities while providing socially engaging activities in the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that is both respectful and empowering to families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Out N About and Respite Getaway programs, includes but is not limited to, annual evaluations, quarterly DSP meetings, conflict resolution, consistent communication
  • Assist individuals enrolled in program in reaching their desired goals and outcomes regarding the program while keeping them safe and empowered
  • Identify and coordinate recreation activities for weekend programs, including hotel arrangements, transportation arrangements, vendor payment, supply ordering, and communication of details to staff and families
  • Develop program materials including calendars, brochures, fact sheets, flyers, articles, etc.
  • Maintain client information files, records, applications, etc.
  • Communicate with Support Coordinators to ensure participants have appropriate units, services, and funding in their Individualized Service Plans (ISP) to attend events
  • Submit all pertinent documents and data entry, including program notes, entitlements, timesheets, reconciliation reports, fee for service requests, and incident reports by specified deadlines
  • Collect event RSVPs, monitor attendance and track payments
  • Complete required monthly/quarterly reports, then forwards reports to supervisor and appropriate Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) regional office
  • Initiate collaborative relationships with community groups, service providers, other Family Resource Network (FRN) programs, DDD family support, and regional staff and families
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, which may not be limited to the Out-N-About or Respite Getaway Program
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or SVP
