Adult Care Investigator/Auditor
Job Description:
TruView Background Screening and Investigations, a New York based Investigations & Security Company is seeking qualified individuals to investigate allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect, fraud, or other violations within nursing homes or long-term care facilities. You will work to ensure the safety, well-being, and rights of elderly residents by conducting thorough investigations, gathering evidence, and collaborating with relevant authorities.
Individuals MUST meet the following criteria for consideration:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct Surveys: Conduct routine or complaint-driven surveys of Adult Care facilities to assess compliance with state and federal regulations, licensure requirements, and quality standards.
- Investigate Allegations: Receive and review complaints, reports, or suspicions of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, fraud, or other violations within nursing homes.
- Conduct Investigations: Utilize investigative techniques such as interviews, document review, on-site inspections, and data analysis to gather evidence related to alleged incidents or violations.
- Evaluate Compliance and Identify Deficiencies: Review facility policies, procedures, records, and practices to determine adherence to regulations related to resident care, safety, staffing, environment, and administration.
- Document Findings: Document all investigative activities, observations, findings, and evidence in a detailed and organized manner according to established protocols and standards. Review resident records, incident reports, medication administration records, and other documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Interview Staff: Interview facility administrators, staff members, and residents to gather information about facility operations, resident experiences, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Assess Resident Care: Evaluate the quality of care provided to residents, including medical care, medication management, personal care assistance, dietary services, and recreational activities.
- Inspect Facility Environment: Inspect the physical environment of the facility, including living quarters, common areas, dining facilities, and outdoor spaces, for cleanliness, safety, accessibility, and comfort.
- Provide Recommendations: Provide recommendations and guidance to facility administrators on corrective actions, improvements, and best practices to address identified deficiencies and enhance quality of care.
Qualifications:
- New York Licensed Registered Nurse is required.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, criminal justice, public health, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in gerontology, forensic nursing, social work, or related disciplines are advantageous.
- Previous experience in investigating elder abuse, neglect, fraud, or related crimes, preferably in the healthcare or social services field.
- Previous experience in utilization review, case management experience, claims adjudication, medical review, surveillance or monitoring activities will be considered.
- A valid driver’s license along with the ability to travel locally is required.
- Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing nursing home operations, resident rights, elder abuse prevention, and investigative procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to conduct interviews, write detailed reports, and interact professionally with diverse individuals and stakeholders.
- Empathy, compassion, and sensitivity to the needs and rights of elderly individuals, especially those living in long-term care settings.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail for identifying patterns, discrepancies, and indicators of abuse, neglect, or fraud in documentation and data.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment, often under tight deadlines and sensitive circumstances.
- Proficiency in using computer software for documentation, data analysis, and report writing.
Location:
· Based in downtown New York City, this travel position assists in conducting surveillance and investigation of Adult Care Facilities. This position is majority travel, will be onsite at facilities in the five boroughs of New York City. Mileage and accommodation reimbursement are provided. Non-travel days are based out of the NYSDOH lower Manhattan office.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 with competitive benefits.
