About Horizons

Horizons for Homeless Children (Horizons) is a local non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and helping their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services.

What youll do

As the Bilingual Admissions and Financial Assistance Coordinator, youll be a member of our highly skilled and dedicated Admissions and Financial Assistance team. Youll work closely with shelters, families, your team, and our Centers Leadership Teams to ensure that children between the age of 0-5 years and families are enrolled in services at Horizons and funding is secured. Its important to note that communicating with families in Spanish or Haitian Creole, in addition to English, is an essential part of this role for our parent community. More details about your responsibilities

Admissions Management:

  • Maintain a detailed and updated waitlist; managing referrals, adding new families, filling open classroom slots, and coordinating transitions into the program from the waitlist.
  • Maintain high confidentiality standards.
  • Work with your team to identify current and future classroom openings.
  • Act as the initial contact for shelter workers and their referred families interested in enrolling at Horizons and provide detailed description of program and expectations.
  • Coordinate and conduct respectful and individualized intake meetings with new families.
  • Manage handoff meetings with the centers administration team.

Childcare Subsidy Management:
  • Assist in determining funding source eligibility for families and completing the childcare subsidy process, ensuring that required paperwork is appropriately filed.
  • Assist in meeting with families on an annual basis to reassess their eligibility for a childcare subsidy.
  • Support families in ensuring timely voucher renewals.
  • Assist in monitoring familys attendance for continued enrollment.

Data Management:
  • Timely data entry into multiple systems related to, and required by EEC & Head Start, including applications, attendance, and intakes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of childrens files.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure the program is in compliance with various contracts (EEC, ABCD, CACFP).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Experience
  • Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole, verbal and written, is required in addition to English.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience with transferrable responsibilities and skills.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk families strongly preferred, within the shelter system a plus.
  • Prior experience in social work, social services, or other human service fields a plus; knowledge of the childcare funding and financial system a plus.
  • Data entry or database experience, preference for My Head Start, Quickbase, and CCFA experience.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education/Head Start highly preferred.
  • Commitment to a strength-based, culturally competent, collaborative approach to working with families and colleagues.
