General Description and Purpose:
American Canadian School of Medicine (ACSOM) is a non-profit university, not beholden to shareholders
and corporations, entirely dedicated to providing its students with the highest quality education. Because it
works in tandem with the Commonwealth of Dominica and local medical providers, ACSOM is uniquely
positioned to raise the standard of healthcare for the local community.


Job Summary:
ACSOM seeks student-success-focused admissions professionals with a passion for serving others. Must be
self-motivated, should demonstrate success in customer service. In the dual role of Student Advisor and
Recruiter, your role will be responsible for communicating with ACSOM leads and inquiries in order to
enroll interested prospective students, as well as developing strategies to recruit potential medical students
for ACSOM. This will include developing and implementing a recruitment plan and providing resources and
information to assist in moving prospectus students to enrolled students. This is a full-time position. Days
and hours of work are Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and evening hours as needed during
the travel recruitment season.


Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with a high volume of prospective students via phone, email, chat, and/or other communication channels to secure enrollment.
  • Creates prospective student interest using institution-approved resources and technology.
  • Work with prospective students and provide timely and accurate advice on all aspects of the enrollment process, including admissions requirements, program requirements, and financial options.
  • Sets clear expectations with prospective students regarding program requirements.
  • Undertake domestic travel within an assigned territory.
  • Build a comprehensive strategic plan, work cycle, and timeline for student recruiting.
  • Identify and achieve goals and targets for increasing enrollment through targeted outreach programs.
  • Documents all interactions with prospective, active, and inactive students within institutional
  • information systems.
  • Utilize internal systems with proficiency and accuracy to create, maintain, and update student
  • records.
  • Effectively communicates with the admissions team and other departments in sharing student
  • information to offer a high level of service and meet state and federal, accrediting and other
  • requirements.
  • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to others and exhibits a high degree of
  • flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Serve as a liaison to develop partnerships between ACSOM and local universities.
  • Complies with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties in keeping with the position.
  • Education, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
  • 2 years prior experience in admissions, student services or advising in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills and ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Strong work ethics and exceptional ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to analyze course prerequisites, curriculum, and graduation requirements.
  • Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
  • Computer literate with a proven ability to learn and effectively use CRM software.
  • Goal-oriented, assertive, results-driven, high energy, and highly ethical.
  • Problem-solve rapidly and effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player with a positive attitude.
