Description of Job:This position exists to preside over and govern the conduct of hearings, resolve evidence issues, rule on motions, and write formal decisions pursuant to statutes, rules of evidence and procedure in the Denver and outlying areas.
A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Hearings – Preside over and conduct impartial hearings
- Pretrial – Issue oral and written rulings by holding pretrial hearings
- Supervision- Supervise the General Services unit including but not limited to, assigning tasks; establishing work standards and monitoring progress and workflow; performance management and employee development. Sustain a high performing team focused on the organization's evolving needs. Attract, develop, motivate and retain an outstanding, diverse high performing workforce of professionals through effective leadership, recruitment, training, development and succession planning.
- Decision writing – Resolve disputed factual and legal issues by composing written decisions after weighing and evaluating evidence
- Legal research – Determine relevant legal and factual issues using critical thinking, legal research, reviewing legal briefs and determining applicable law
- Mediations – Conduct and oversee settlement conferences, mediation sessions and other forms of alternative dispute resolution

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited law school and at least five (5) years of experience practicing law (legal experience acquired after admission to the bar), three (3) of which must have included experience appropriate to the work assignment, and qualified candidates shall have been licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado for five (5) years
