The City of Ontario Information Technology Agency has an excellent part-time, internship opportunity for a motivated individual interested in gaining valuable training and experience needed to enter the field of Cyber Security. The Administrative Intern will assist with supporting IT Security Team in reviewing security alerts, researching security tools and assisting with other operational assignments and tasks. This position will play a vital role in raising the City's Cyber Security posture.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and a desire to gain valuable, hands-on IT experience in a public sector setting. Working alongside technical support staff, the Administrative Intern will be exposed to a wide range of technical assignments and IT projects including the City's IT Help Desk, asset management, e-waste processing, hardware, computer peripherals, desktop rollouts, and software upgrades. As with any internship experience, individuals with a desire to learn as much as possible from experienced employees will have the greatest benefit from their internship experience. The Information Security Division provides security to internal cyber systems and support City operations. Ontario IT is a 24-hour, 7 dat a week operation, which provides support to our extensive information infrastructure includes networks, telecommunication, which provides support to our extensive mobile and field equipment. - Researches and evaluates current and new security strategies to protect confidential digital information.
- Assists in researching potential cyber threats and proposing countermeasures to help secure the City's network.
- Assists in the creation of Cyber Security and IT policy and procedures.
- Assists in the development of security awareness materials.
- Maintains and reviews City equipment asset database.
- Assists members of management, professional, and technical staff by preforming basic administrative and technical assignments.
- Assists with report creation or data analyses using data from software systems and databases.
- Creates technical documentation and training guides for security tools.
- Preforms other related duties as assigned.
Equivalent to completion of two years of college at an accredited college/university with major course work in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

License

Special Requirements
Basic knowledge of devices such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, and printer. Knowledge of operating systems and programs including Windows and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
Current enrollment in upper division courses of a Bachelor's Degree program or recently graduated from a Bachelor's Degree program related to Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, English, Business Analytics, or a related field.
