Program Description:
The Division of Epidemiology provides expert epidemiologic support to DOHMH programs and external organizations in order to improve monitoring and delivery of public health services is New York City. Division Management is committed to providing oversight, management, technical support and guidance for division programs and bureaus. Division Management promotes operational and administrative efficiencies within the division by supporting the bureaus and programs in several key areas including budget administration, grants and contracts management, office administration, personnel services and procurement of goods and services. The unit also provides advocacy, guidance and support for bureau and program leadership by ensuring they have adequate resources to accomplish goals and assisting in resolving issues involving operations, productivity and technical matters.
Summary of Position:
The Division of Epidemiology is requesting an Administrative Data Intern to assist with the data entry and management for Epidemiology Administration activities. The intern will be responsible for collecting data from various sources, organizing it, and entering it into an internal database.
Specifically, the Administrative Data Intern will:
- Retrieve updated reports from a variety of DOHMH internal systems, such as PECOS and OES, as scheduled by data manager. Enter updated data into internal database for proper tracking and archiving.
- Perform regular quality assurance checks on all personnel and procurement related reports sent to Assistant Commissioners. Ensure that information has been updated and reflected properly on the report by reviewing database usages and comparing to previous reports.
- Organize and maintain all shared folders related to internal database. Purge archival data no longer needed. Perform regular back up databases to prevent loss or corruption of collected data.
- Count materials, equipment, merchandise, or supplies in stock and enter in the database as needed. Report discrepancies between physical counts and computer records to Data Manager.
- Assist Data Manager with inventory reports and other ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Perform other special projects as assigned.
- Rate: $17.30 - $17.30 per hour
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and/or Access.
- Previous experience in inventory control or data management a plus.
- Proficient math and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Salary: $17.30 - $17.30 per hour
