Smoot Investments Inc. is a mortgage servicer and debt collection agency in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. We are offering a unique opportunity for entry-level professionals to gain experience in the financial industry as an Administrative and Loan Support Assistant.

The Position

As an Administrative and Loan Support Assistant, you will primarily be responsible for monitoring our mortgage accounts to ensure timely payments are made for real estate taxes and property insurance. This will include research regarding the status of all real estate collateral through various state and local municipalities, the setup and maintenance of borrower escrow accounts, as well as forced-placed insurance, and the issuance of various notification letters as required. It will also involve communicating with our loan account officers to ensure they are alerted to any concerns that may impact the collateral on their loans and to resolve any requests they may have regarding taxes and insurance.

While a knowledge of real estate tax and insurance is preferred, it is not necessary, as training will be provided to the right candidate with a desire to learn and think critically.

In addition to supporting our loan servicing operations in this way, you will also be answering and directing phone calls, processing mail, sending letters, filing, and performing other administrative tasks as needed. There is always room for growth, so the ideal candidate will have a variety of skillsets they can employ to help solve problems and streamline existing processes.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or further education

· Ability to pass FDCPA certification course upon hiring

· Ability to operate a computer and basic software systems, with a strong preference for Intermediate to Advanced users of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

· Ability to problem solve and think critically

· Ability to multi-task efficiently and stay organized with proper documentation

· Ability to perform under high levels of stress while maintaining a positive attitude
