Position Summary & Essential Duties
The following duties, responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's), and physical requirements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. SUMMARY:
Teach courses as scheduled. Make written recommendations to the Department Chairman regarding curriculum additions, deletions, or revisions. Make recommendations regarding course content and text selection. Prepare course syllabi in subject area and to formulate stated objectives for each course.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least one of the following certifications:
RDMS in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
RVT in Vascular Technology (VT)
RDCS in Adult Echocardiogram (AE) or Pediatric Echocardiogram (PE)
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
RT in Sonography (S) or Vascular Sonography (VS)
Plus two (2) years' experience in a clinical setting.
**Minimums expanded 2/15/24 to include additional certifications accepted.
PREFERENCES:
Five (5) year's experience in a clinical setting.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will:
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, and assignments, and papers as appropriate.
  • Administer, compile, and grade examinations as assigned.
  • Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships.

  • Utilize advancements in technology to improve instructional methodology.

  • Maintain accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.

  • Develop and implement innovative course content based on current pedagogy.
  • Evidence a willingness to incorporate new concepts and theories to enhance professional growth.
  • Integrate a diverse set of perspectives and ideas into course curriculum.
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the classroom, the department, and the institution.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students.
  • Fosters collegiality within the department/division.
  • Evidence timely completion of administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities.
  • Participate in evaluation, recommendation, development, and/or revision of department instruction/curriculum.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of the appropriate subject matter and the application of the subject matter for the discipline being taught.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operation for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds but may require intermittent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work in a classroom. May be viewing monitors for long periods of time. May be exposed to vapors, drugs, and pathogens. May encounter patients who may act irrationally or physically abusive.

TEMPLE COLLEGE BENEFITS
  • PAYROLL: Employees are paid by direct deposit through the last working day of the month. Wages for 16-week semesters are paid evenly over four months, and eight-week semesters are paid evenly over two months, with the first deposit occurring on the last working day of the first full month of the semester. Actual deposits are paid on the last working business day of the month. All benefit deductions are taken at that time.
  • RETIREMENT: Temple College is one of the few community colleges in the state of Texas to be permitted Federal Social Security deductions. Temple College is a Section 218 employer.
  • MISCELLANEOUS LEAVE: Jury Duty, Bereavement, Deteriorating weather, and Military training.
  • WORKERS COMPENSATION: If an employee is injured on the job, Temple College, through its Worker Compensation Program, pays all authorized hospital, nursing, and physician's fees. Additional benefits may be available.
