Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty for the Department of Political Science in the College of Theology, Arts, and Humanities. Part-time teaching opportunities are available throughout the academic year, including summer sessions. Applicants with expertise that matches course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview.

Current opportunities include teaching the following courses for the Spring 2024 semester:

  • POS-1100: American Government and Politics, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-10:45am Course Description: An introduction to the American political system surveying politics and the democratic process, basic principles of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Illinois Constitution, the national policymaking institutions of the United States, and relevant current political events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree or better in Political Science
  • Experience as the instructor of record in Political Science courses, preferably American Government and Politics or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to handle all situations in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS)
