Cultural AnthropologyAdjunct Professor (General Education)Job Summary:

The Adjunct Faculty, General Education is responsible for the development, administration, teaching, and evaluation of learners in one (or more) of the College's general education courses. General education faculty are expected to teach primarily online didactic courses. The incumbent will advise and mentor learners as well as monitor learner performance in accordance with course objectives and published schedules. This role will also, assist learners with study problems and with evaluating their potential for successful achievement in course or discipline.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains accurate performance records of learners
  • Submits required reports according to published deadlines
  • Attends faculty meetings and other faculty activities as required
  • Participates and completes Canvas Faculty Training course
  • Delivers learner-centered instruction through online delivery mechanisms including discussion boards, office hours, recorded videos, small group sessions, asynchronous and synchronous sessions
  • Manages section(s) of 10-25 learners, as assigned according to contract
  • Monitors and responds to the assigned small group online message board or discussion forum on a regular basis each week
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning in Anthropology or a related discipline with a minimum of 18 credit hours of direct study in one of the areas taught is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education is required, experience in online education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) is required.
  • Demonstrated a minimum of two years in a faculty role is required, experience in online education is preferred.

In preparation for each new Adjunct Faculty's first semester, they will be required to attend the College's virtual New Collaborator Orientation and complete other remote Onboarding and Initial Alignment Period training. Time spent attending and completing these requirements will be paid at an hourly rate of $30/hour.
