Job Description:
The Music Department at Bellarmine University seeks an Adjunct Saxophone Studio Specialist who has versatile musical skills (a woodwind doubler is a plus). The Adjunct Instructor position will teach Applied Saxophone to undergraduate majors and non-majors. The ideal candidate will have a background teaching classical, commercial, and jazz saxophone from a broad repertoire to beginner, intermediate and advanced students. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and maintaining a saxophone studio, while maintaining an active profile as a performing artist and teacher. Other duties include but are not limited to attending departmental meetings and completing required training by the university as assigned, as well as creating a syllabi and reporting attendance. Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned depending on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This is a part-time nine-month position with some evening and weekend work as needed. Hours vary according to the size of studio roster and the needs of the students with an anticipated August 2023 start date.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in music OR equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years of teaching experience
- Demonstrated success recruiting
- Understanding of Instrumental Pedagogy
- A history of working in or working collaboratively with high school band programs
