Description:
GENERAL JOB BRIEF
The Adjunct Professor will teach courses in the Master of Science in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. Instructors are responsible for the preparation and delivery of all course materials including the syllabus, lecture, and other course delivery preparation, as well as keeping attendance records.
This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through classroom instruction and person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants for an graduate teaching position must possess a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with prior experience teaching in a university setting.
- At least 1 year of experience teaching in a higher education setting
- Maintains an independent license of marriage and family therapy in the state of Arizona.
- Experience with various instructional delivery systems including integration of technology into coursework
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and oral presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Evidence of a Christian commitment with interest in and ability to integrate orthodox biblical principles and learning
ABILITY AND SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

Responsibilities:
- Supervision and instruction of students in classroom and/or lab settings
- Development of written syllabi and required course materials
- Evaluation of subject matter taught and maintenance of student records
- Preparation and grading of exams
- Maintaining office hours to advise and assist students
- Participation in departmental and university-wide meetings
- Provide spiritual support and prayer to students and staff
