Job description

HIRING PROCESS: All submitted application materials are forwarded to the appropriate department for review. Hiring recommendations are made at the departmental level. PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening..

The College of Education invites applicants to apply to be added to its pool of potential adjunct instructors. Typical adjunct positions are available for courses normally taught in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education and Special Education. Most courses meet once per week in the evenings, or they are taught online. Some courses scheduled to be taught during the day may be available.

Required Qualifications:

Must have earned an Ed.D. or Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent, from a regionally accredited university with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a related field. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education or Special Education
  • Teaching experience at the college level both online and face-to-face
  • Previous experience in public K-12 schools, or equivalent
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English


Environmental and Working Conditions:

Normal environment found in an office and/or educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.
Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Some lifting and or carrying objects weighing 10 lbs+ may be required.
Work Hours:

Hours to meet the needs of the department.
