Adjunct ESL Instructor

Midwestern Career College has openings for an on-campus Adjunct ESL Instructor.

A little about the MCC ESL Program: The mission of the ESL Program is to provide non-native speakers of English with the English language, academic, and cultural skills that will enable them to further their education in US colleges or universities and/or gain employment in their native countries or the US.

The Schedule:

• April 15 to June 30. Renewal in September
• on campus M/W and/or T/TH 9:30 to 2:30

About the job: The Adjunct ESL Instructor will teach English as a Second Language classes. The instructor has the desire to work in a positive manner with students, bringing energy and fresh ideas into the classroom. The instructor is comfortable teaching Beginner to Advanced levels of English. The instructor will assess the students throughout the program.

Duties:

• Teach assigned classes in accordance with course goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes.
• Create an engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest level of students.
• Conduct continuous evaluation of curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom activities.
• Evaluate student progress through required number of assignments, quizzes, and course exams, and record all grades by deadlines.
• Prepare for assigned classes and post session agenda (lesson plans) on course D2L/Brightspace pages.
• Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance.
• Provide feedback on course curriculum, methods, and materials.
• Collaborate with other instructors and attend all in-service meetings.
• Complete a minimum of 2 hours of professional development per term and provide documentation to MCC Administration.
• Perform other duties assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching ESL to adults
• B.A. or M.A. TESOL or linguistics OR related field w / TESL / TEFL / CELTA certificate. LOCAL APPLICANTS ONLY.
