The School of Mathematics and Sciences at Lincoln Memorial University
invites applications for the position of Online Adjunct Instructor in
Computer Science. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate
courses online in support of the Computer Science program. Courses may
include COSC 160 Computer Science I (fall and/or spring), COSC 194
Computer Science Career Seminar (fall and/or spring), and COSC 240
Computer Science II (spring). The position reports to the Chair of the
Department of Mathematics and will not exceed six credit hours per
semester.
Required Qualifications
master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems, Computer Programming, or a related field; OR Master's
degree in any discipline (mathematics or a natural science
preferred) and at least 18 graduate-level hours in Computer
Science, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Programming;educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the
University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools;
and *evidence of potential for effective online teaching
Preferred Qualifications
*experience teaching undergraduate Computer Science courses
online; and *experience with Canvas learning management system

provide course and classroom instruction as outlined in the LMU Employee Handbook and the LMU Online and Hybrid Instructor Guidebook;

maintain virtual office hours published in syllabi;

maintain a syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each enrolled student;

align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes; -

submit current copy of each syllabus to the Department Chair by a predetermined deadline;
Job Duty
evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline;

submit final gradebook for archiving;
Job Duty
requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair;
Job Duty
assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument as requested each semester;
Job Duty
participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major;
Job Duty
promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;
Job Duty
promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students;
Job Duty
maintain proper security for all University files and information and follow privacy procedures at all times;
Job Duty
maintain records and procedures for duties and responsibilities of position; and
Job Duty
perform other duties as assigned.
