Adena Lakeland – Equipment Operator
Summary:
The Equipment Operator utilizes a variety of pieces of construction equipment to assist in the completion of jobsite activities.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights (crane, forklift, trackhoe, skid loader, off road trucks, dozer, backhoe, loader, etc.)
- Reads and understands load charts for lifting type equipment (forklifts & cranes)
- Brings problems/concerns to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent or Safety Director
- Follows daily procedures as set forth in job orientations and trainings
- Performs routine inspections on assigned equipment and notifies supervisor of defects or needed repairs
- Cleans and maintains equipment regularly
- Adheres to the company’s safety policies and OSHA safety procedures to create an accident free work environment
- Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to operate heavy equipment
- Obtain proper training and certifications prior to operating equipment
- Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles
- Working knowledge of methods to handle materials
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Operators must have good eyesight, hearing and better than average coordination in order to operate both hand and foot levers simultaneously
Must have the necessary dexterity and fine motor skills
- Operators must have good judgment in order to perform complicated tasks and must be able to work closely with other crafts without constant supervision
- Understanding and use of standardized hand signaling
- Operators must be alert constantly and observant of their surroundings
- Ability to work in an environment where the noise level is generally loud
- Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may at times require overnight stays away from home
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
