We are looking for an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Process Engineer to build technical expertise in new modalities, process, automation capabilities for the Additive Manufacturing Emerging Technologies team. This fast-paced group produces products using AM methods and provides technical and manufacturing support for Baker Hughes through innovative AM Solutions.

This position is an integral role within the team to accelerate AM adoption across the Enterprise. The role requires a strong Additive Manufacturing and materials science background and demonstrated ability to bring global synergy to our additive technology space working with strategic institutions, customers, suppliers and stakeholders. It is essential that the candidate have a proven record of accomplishment developing AM modalities, specifically direct printing (Aerosol Jetting, Direct Ink Writing, Material Extrusion) technologies to print qualified parts that bring business value.


As an Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Growing the Technology Readiness Levels and Manufacturing Readiness Levels of the current printing capabilities to provide innovative Additive Manufacturing solutions.
  • Working with external/internal customers, engineers, and scientists to lead development and validation of Additive Manufacturing Processes to address customer needs and opportunities.
  • Supporting preparation, programming, and operation of AM 3D Printing equipment to produce polymers, composites, sensors and electronics components.
  • Developing and optimizing of Additive Manufacturing Processes through improvement of reliability, productivity, occupational safety, material properties and geometrical tolerance.
  • Collaborating with Engineering teams and material scientists to identify and drive projects to demonstrate the benefits of using Additive Manufacturing
  • Applying basics of CAD and DfAM principles, iterate designs, support qualification and release of AM products
  • Leading design and process discussions and requirements specific to using AM to enable product innovation and/or maximize supply chain efficiency

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor degree (Master or PhD degree preferred) in Engineering or Material Science, or similar from an accredited university or college
  • Have 2+ years of experience in Additive Manufacturing in a Corporate/Industrial setting outside of a university research center, preferably working with sensors and/electronic components
  • Demonstrated experience with materials and processing including Additive Manufacturing modalities such as Aerosol Jet Printing & Direct Ink Writing to design and manufacture micro-scale AM components.
  • Demonstrated experience with Additive Manufacturing of polymer and reinforced polymer components
  • Have experience with ink formulations, materials characterization, substrates, and post-curing procedures is desirable. Familiarity with developing process models to improve efficiency and productivity of printing processes is desirable.
  • Be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder able to work on Government projects
