Job Description
BPAS Actuarial & Pension Services, the largest employer of consulting actuaries in Upstate New York, seeks candidates for the position of Summer Intern in our Syracuse office. Our Interns work with senior and junior actuaries to design, value, administer and communicate employee benefit security programs such as pension plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation programs.
Responsibilities
Our Interns work with senior and junior actuaries to design, value, administer and communicate employee benefit security programs such as pension plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation programs. Our Interns may also work with senior staff with defined benefit outsourcing duties, such as processing pension benefits, direct communication with participants, and assisting with special benefit administration projects.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have the following:
- Completion of Sophomore or Junior year by June 2024 majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or Economics
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 overall or 3.5 in Major
- Preferred: Successful completion of at least one exam sponsored by the Society of Actuaries
- Participation in appropriate activities outside of the classroom (e.g. work, intercollegiate or intramural athletics, business club, etc.)
- Strong Analytical and Technical skills
- Excellent Communication skills

Successful candidates will work at BPAS up to 40 hours weekly from June 3 to August 16, 2024 (dates and times flexible depending upon student’s availability) at a rate of $18 per hour.
