In a highly specialized field of psychiatry, our goal is to promote cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to help our patients succeed.
The Hospital is looking for a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC): Wednesday - Saturday: 10:30am - 8:30pmto join our team.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Providing creative and recreational activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, therapeutic, cognitive, and recreational needs of our patients.
- Utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional or physical.
- Educates the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement.
- Attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial treatment plan and progress summary updates.
- Designs interventions which are relevant to the specific populations served.
- Provides a safe and trusting therapeutic environment for patients.
- Demonstrates skill in helping patients process interventions, allowing them to process emotions related to activities, and personal meanings associated with experiences and any parallels to their lives. Motivates patients to learn and better understand themselves and the issues they face.
- Assessing patients within two (2) days of admission and completing evaluations of progress.

Requirements:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Art or Music Therapy required.
- Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) required.
- Two (2) years’ experience providing Recreation/Activities Therapy. Prefer minimum of two (2) years in a psychiatric setting with adolescent population.
- Working knowledge of recreational therapy programming. Effective oral and written communication skill.
- Extensive sitting, standing, walking, reading, lifting over (50 lbs.) pounds and participation in active physical recreational program.
