Do you have a passion to serve the seniors in your community?  Come join the Senior Community Care of Kentucky in the NEW YEAR as an Activities Assistant!  We are looking for a team oriented professional, to join us and provide service and care for seniors!

Schedule: M-F, 8a-5p, occasional weekends

Salary: $15.51-$17.51

OBJECTIVE: Assisting with the implementation of activities for participants tailored to the needs and limitations of frail elderly.  Assists participants with non-skilled Activities of Daily Living (ADL).  Provides one-one assistance with participants or preparing for upcoming activities.  Assist with planning social, therapeutic and leisure programs.

REQUIRED

  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before
    having direct participant contact.
  • Must have one year’s experience working with the frail or elderly population.
  • Must be able to pass Background Check and Drug Screen.

PREFERRED

  • Must have one year experience providing activities programming to elderly population.
  • CNA or PCA experience

Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of the principles’ practices standards and techniques of the provision of
recreational activities.
• Knowledge of how to use and maintain materials and equipment of need to provide
recreational activities.
• Knowledge of safety requirements when providing and implementing recreational.
• Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, coworkers, medical staff, and the public.
• Able to identify and recommend problem resolution.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Leads and/or assists in large groups, small groups 1:1’s and individual activities (exercise, arts and
crafts, games, current events, sensory, etc.).
2. Assists Activities Director in assessing and reassessing participants’ functional status in
relationship to participation in recreational activities.
3. Assists with the development and implementation of recreational activities that meet the interests,
needs and capabilities of participants under the supervision of Activities Director.
4. Completes assigned activity charting and reporting as assigned by Activities Director.
5. Assists in the organizing of special events, outings as assigned.
6. Assists with preparing and cleaning up after activities.
7. Attends any meetings regarding participant care as assigned by Activities Director.
8. Assists Day Center staff as directed by Activities Director, such as lunch service and arrival of
participants as appropriate.
9. Assists in the ordering of supplies for department as requested and maintains equipment in good
condition.
10. Acts within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
11. Follows all Senior CommUnity Care program Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety
guidelines.
12. Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about
participants, clients or families.
13. Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions, and practices
Universal precautions.
14. Maintains safe working environment. Follows Senior CommUnity Care program safety Policies
and Procedures.
15. Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.
16. Maintains general order in the activities area, including daily clean-up, routine supply inventory
ordering, petty cash and overall general budgeting.
17. Works cooperatively with other staff and departments to meet Senior CommUnity Care
participants’ needs.
18. Assists participants with non-skilled Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as needed.
19. Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information
about employees, participants and families.
20. Participates in and supports Quality Improvement initiatives.
21. Performs related duties as required.
