Job description

Position Summary The Student Conduct Officer is a temporary, part-time exempt position (50% FTE or 20 hours/week) reporting to the Manager of Student Care and Community Standards/Acting Dean of Student Support within Student Affairs. The Student Conduct Officer upholds the Student Conduct Code of Bellevue College and serves as a Student Conduct Officer Designee for the College. This position investigates, mediates, and adjudicates reported student misconduct.

This position provides consultations, training, and interventions to educate students, faculty and the Bellevue College community about the student rights and responsibilities. This position also provides support to various departments and teams. Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range at 50% FTE: $33,834.50/year - $47,368.50/year The salary information shown above is a general guideline only.

The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hires start no higher than $37,218/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule. We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components.

This position may be eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; salaries below the WA State Salary Threshold is eligible for overtime pay.

The Student Conduct Code of Bellevue College (WAC 132H-126) outlines student rights and responsibilities in the Bellevue College community. These rights and responsibilities include due process rights, prohibited conduct, appeal routes, and behavior expectations. Essential Functions Implement Student Conduct Code of Bellevue College Conduct meetings with students regarding reported behavior concerns and violations of Student Conduct policies Collaborate with academic affairs faculty to investigate and developmentally respond to reports of academic dishonesty Facilitate informal resolution processes to address student conflicts as appropriate Investigate reported student misconduct, initiate disciplinary action, make findings, determine sanctions as appropriate, and communicate to students in accordance with the Student Conduct Code Maintain detailed records of all conduct cases, including incident reports, investigation notes, and communications Represent the College and present cases in hearings and appeals Interpret and implement institutional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations as applied to the College Participate in campus threat assessment processes and bias incident responses involving students.

Student Care Represent Student Conduct on the BC CARE Team Provide case management for concerns assigned by the CARE Team Serve as a resource, collaborate with campus offices, and support students, staff, and faculty to address student behavior concerns Consult with and advocate for students with questions and/or concerns navigating institutional policy, procedures, and processes Communication and Collaboration Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration Participate in supervision, staff, and team meetings Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-to-year basis At least one (1) year experience supporting students in a higher education setting Experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, or procedures Effective interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to use computers for data entry, web applications, searching the internet, and troubleshooting basic computer issues Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to work effectively in a diverse workplace and educational environment. Flexibility of schedule and willingness to work select evenings and/or weekend.

Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Higher Education, Communication, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution One year experience as a Student Conduct Officer or other Student Conduct role in a higher education setting Knowledge of Student Conduct appeal processes, academic integrity, and/or Title IX Experience managing an online case management system such as Maxient Experience presenting workshops to students, college staff, and faculty Knowledge of student or human development theories and conflict resolution Knowledge of Clery Act, Campus Security Authorities, VAWA, FERPA, and other higher education law Conditions of Employment Bellevue College intends to provide a drug-free, healthy, safe, and secure work and educational environment.
