Job description

SMX is hiring an Acquisition Logistician who specializes in program logistics documentation production, specifically focusing on Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and associated products. This position will support an Army program at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. 

The Acquisition Logistician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant documentation, contributing to the success of the acquisition program and the sustained support of Army materiel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Acquisition Logistician include: 

  • Production of Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and all annexes
  • Type classification, and materiel release documentation generation
    • Ensure compliance with US Army Type classification and material release requirements
  • Develop and maintain AGSE Technical Manuals
  • Assist in the development of product training material/documentation and plans
  • Conduct basis of issue planning (BOIP) to determine resource allocation and distribution
  • Manage force development and maintenance of Air Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) products
  • Provide expertise on Army provisioning processes and requirements
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze various types of required logistics data including product availability and supply chain impacts, product reliability, product sustainment support and other data related to product supply chain management, sourcing, and distribution
  • Develop briefing materials and effectively present them to senior leadership
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in program logistics documentation and Army logistics

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of Acquisition Logistics, Product Support Management, or related experience, to include the following:
    • Previous experience in logistics working on PEO Aviation programs
    • Experience developing Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and supporting documentation
    • Training and experience in supporting the production/development of Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and associated products
  • Experience in applying Army Regulation 700-127 and DA PAM 700-127 during the acquisition process, to ensure supportability implications are considered early and throughout the acquisition process to minimize support costs and provide the user with the resources to sustain the system in the field
  • Comprehensive understanding of the 12 Product Support elements within an Army program office, including: product support management, design interface, sustaining engineering, maintenance planning and management, supply support, Support Equipment, technical data, training and training support, IT systems continuous support, facilities and infrastructure, packaging, handling, storage, and transportation, and manpower and personnel. 
  • Familiarity with AR 770-3 Type Class/ Material release
    • Proficiency in US Army Type classification and materiel release processes and documentation.
  • Knowledge of AR 770-2 for Procedures for Materiel Fielding
  • Experience Analyzing, Developing, and Implementing Supportability Strategies and identifying opportunities to reduce Lifecycle Operations and Support costs
  • Strong knowledge of Army publications production and processes
  • Familiarity with Army provisioning processes and requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
