The Math Instructional Specialist will assist teachers with implementation of specially designed instruction to close achievement gaps for students while working collaboratively with the Coordinators within curriculum and instruction. Responsibilities include providing professional development for initiatives, programs, and activities related to the curriculum content and development of specially designed instructional strategies aligned with the district's curriculum.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Teachers certificate in appropriate content (Math, ELA,) and grade configuration
Generalist Certification Elementary/Intermediate OR Secondary Content Certification
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's Degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge and experience with implementation of specially designed instruction
Extensive knowledge of special education practices, requirements and knowledge of access to general ed curriculum
Extensive knowledge of instructional strategies for use with children with disabilities
Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Extensive knowledge of Texas Curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
Thorough knowledge of effective professional development including coaching and mentoring
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application
Experience:
Five (5) years successful teaching experience with evidence of student growth
