This internship is for the summer of 2024.

POSITION SUMMARY:

An intern at SICK is involved in the day-to-day activities within the business through immersion into different projects. The intern will have the opportunity to work within a team to gain knowledge and first-hand experience of what a career in this industry would be like.

All the following will be performed under supervision, you are not expected to know these terms much less how to address within the commercial relationship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in reviewing projects for liens or bailment agreements.
  • Review contracts for terms and conditions of the commercial relationship.
  • Interact with Finance, Sales, Legal, Customer Service, Operations personnel.
  • Interact with all levels of the sales force to manage sensitive customer relationship issues.
  • Participate in process development for lien application.
  • Complete Surety Bond requests.
  • Review open accounts for collection efforts.
  • Make outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations.
  • Resolve billing issues and provide excellent customer service.
  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss them with management.
  • Contact other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve routine accounting problems. Research and resolve vendor discrepancies and dispute and escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Identify and improve the processes employed in the management of the financial commercial relationship between the company and its customers.
  • Work on a chosen project with the assistance of the manager, mentor, and team.
  • Work closely with the manager and a selected mentor to understand systems, processes, and key information.
  • Actively seek out information to learn how SICK operates as a business (products, departments, etc.).
  • Interface with other departments and interns to gain knowledge of the business, products, positions and more.
  • Complete a final presentation at the close of the internship that outlines the involved project(s) and knowledge gained.
  • Provide feedback on the internship experience at the close of the internship.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Working towards a BS/BS degree in accounting.
  • Enrolled in a 4-year program, with a business, finance, economic, or legal focus.

Other Qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Willing to step in and work with a team.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications.
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Able and willingness to work alternative schedules as needed.
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Able to work in a general office environment.
