Job description

This is an IN-OFFICE position located in Hammond, LA. Candidate must live within the area.
PART TIME - Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm with 1 hour lunch 12:00-1:00pm
This roll has the potential to transition to FULL TIME
Our company is a nationwide provider of property and liability claims solutions including: daily and catastrophe loss adjustment; major claim management; business interruption claims handling; and expert litigation support.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary support of account receivable aspects of accounting department
Maintain bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets, updating information as needed
Communicate with clients and customers to request payment and arrange payment plans through emails and phone calls
Processing of payments; collect payment from customers and accurately record it into the system using documented procedures
Work with various team members for billing discrepancies and concerns to bring items to timely resolution
Update client accounts based on payment or contact information
Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
Utilize claims management system to facilitate processes and maintain records
Desired Characteristics:
You are a skilled communicator, able to influence and build consensus, have proven experience partnering with staff across all levels of an organization, and can effectively translate complex financial information for program and development staff
You are highly collaborative, detail oriented, able to balance many competing priorities and willing to go the extra mile to get the job done
You are organized, calm under pressure, have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and the sound judgment needed to make timely, well-informed decisions.
You are tech-savvy and motivated to seek and implement technological solutions to improve process and workflow
Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office
Must be able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines with a high degree of optimism, professionalism & collaboration
Qualifications/Requirements:
Proven experience as Accounts Receivable specialist assistant or other similar position
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (QuickBooks)
Where You'll Be Working:
Location is in Hammond, LA.; centrally located off of I-55 or I-12.

Compensation:
Starting Pay up to $18.00/hr (starting pay is based upon experience)
Room for growth in position and salary is available
Schedule:
Tuesday - Thursday; 8:00am-4:00pm CDT
Extended hours may be required during peak seasons
Candidate should be willing to transition to full time with company growth or expanded duties. Hours would then become Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm CDT
