Description: Classification: ExemptReports to: CFOLocation: Chicago, ILJOB DESCRIPTION Role SummaryReporting to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations and accounting of the company's property management division. You will work closely with the CEDARst, CFO, and senior management to ensure the financial health of the Flats LLC and compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes managing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and tax compliance.Essential Functions Manage the monthly-close process, as well as the commercial and residential property-level books, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures specific to the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Oversee the budgeting and cash forecasting process for Flats LLC and the Property-Level entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness, as well as monthly variance analysis. Manage and monitor cash flow for the Flats LLC and the Property-Level entities, including the preparation of cash forecasts and overseeing the division's banking relationships. Coordinate any infusions needed with CEDARst Controller.Supervise the accounts payable and receivable processed for Flats LLC and the commercial and residential property-level books, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.Collaborate with the property management team to provide financial analysis and support for decision making.Ensure compliance with property management regulations and laws, including tax compliance and lease agreements.Fund payroll at payroll close, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employeesProcess Weekly Check Run (AvidXchange) and manual checks as needed for Flats LLC and the various properties.Perform bank reconciliations for Flats LLC and property-level bank accountsYardi Administrator: manage the onboarding/offboarding process for both properties and usersManage all Yardi integrations for Flats LLC and property level entitiesSupport CPA firm and CEDARst in the preparation of annual tax returns and audits by providing needed schedules and other information.CompetenciesFinancial Analysis: The ability to analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-makingLeadership: The ability to provide guidance and direction to a team, including setting goals, providing feedback, and managing performance.Attention to Detail: The ability to ensure accuracy and completeness in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and accounts payable and receivable.Compliance Management: The ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and laws related to property management, including tax compliance and lease agreements.Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with team members, senior management, and other stakeholders, including the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.Time Management: The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and analyze problems, develop and evaluate alternative solutions, and implement effective solutions.Adaptability: The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, including the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.Technology Skills: The ability to use financial management software and other technology tools effectively.Supervisory ResponsibilityOversee Senior Property Accountant & Accounts Payable ClerkWork environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Physical demands This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.Position type and expected hours of work This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.Requirements: Travel Minimal travel is expected for this position.Required education and experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.5+ years of experience in a financial management role, with at least 2 years of property-level accounting experience.Preferred education and experienceStrong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and cash management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Five years of related experience.Familiarity with software programs used in this job preferred (i.e. YARDI, AvidXchange, Excel, etc)Other dutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
