Position Summary:
The Parking Spot is now hiring for an Accounting Manager with public accounting experience to help lead our established Accounting team in Chicago! The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing The Parking Spot’s accounting, treasury, tax finance, and risk management functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting/finance principles, practices, and procedures as well as managing the tax issues for the company. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for preparing financial reports and presenting findings and recommendations to TPS senior management.
The Accounting Manager will be a key contributor on our Accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. This position is perfect for a candidate with a passion for accounting, strong management skills and a creative analytical mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations
- Assist FP&A team with annual budget process for all operating entities
- Help lead overhaul of internal audit program
- Provide oversight of Operational Accounting team of seven people, including three direct reports
- Monthly close, review department journal entries and financial statement review
- Review third party management agreements to ensure financial compliance; act as liaison to third party ownership groups
- Review of monthly management reports for senior management team and owners
- Provide oversight of balance sheet account analysis, including current assets, current liabilities, and intercompany accounts
- Utilize Sun Systems INFOR software to improve closing process and to develop more useful financial statements and reports
- Assist in streamlining closing process to meet required deadlines, including more efficient use of spreadsheets and better organization of accounting information
- Provide due diligence support and financial analysis as it relates to new acquisitions or business opportunities
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
- Motivated, ambitious, self-starter with strong desire to constantly enhance processes to strive for greater efficiency and accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from four-year college or university
- CPA with 5+ years' experience in comparable corporate environment or 2-3 years’ experience in public accounting environment
- Strong managerial experience and leadership skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to proactively communicate with all departments of the Company to ensure awareness of companywide initiatives and ongoing projects
