Alaska's largest locally-owned CPA firm is seeking a full-charge bookkeeper/ accountant who is client focused with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Role and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Prepares month- and year-end schedules and financial statements and other monthly financial reports
Prepares monthly and bi-weekly payroll including quarterly and year-end report filings, recurring payroll tax deposits, benefit deduction reconciliation and reporting
Assists with monthly client billings
Ensures that financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles
Prepares annual budget and provides mid-year revisions including working with partner group and other departments to obtain pertinent data
Coordinates with tax partner to prepare year-end corporate return
Maintains and updates firm's accounting policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements
Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures
Cross-trains with Accounting Specialist to be able to cover during absences: expense reimbursements, credit card daily reconciliations, accounts payable and to help cover front desk (answer phones, requests, etc.)
Year- end business license renewals, corporate filings, business personal property tax assessments
Must be willing to work additional hours as needed during busy times of year
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Associate's degree in accounting/ business administration preferred but not required.
Minimum of 2 years of month and year-end closing experience
Minimum of 2 years full-cycle payroll experience including quarterly and year-end returns (including Form W-2s) (multi-state payroll experience a plus)
Minimum 2 years of accounts payable experience including posting bills, paying bills, and processing Form 1099-MISC/ NEC/ INT
Minimum 1 year of billing experience preferred.
QuickBooks experience required (used within the past year).
Required Skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and QuickBooks.
Computer savvy; can learn new software and equipment easily.
Attention to detail absolute must. This is a position that needs to be able to be autonomous, and accuracy is necessary.
